YOGA TEACHER TRAINING - 200 HOUR TRAINING

This course is for anyone who would like to become a certified yoga teacher; for yoga students to deepen their yoga practice or health professionals wishing to integrate yoga into the services they offer their patients/clients.

The course will integrate a variety of yoga traditions including Power, Prenatal, Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, Kundalini, and will cover the basic yoga asanas found in classical Hatha Yoga classes. The student will be introduced to asana practices from the yoga traditions mentioned above and will be taught how to effectively teach yoga to students of all levels.

Breathing, meditation, anatomy, physiology, charkas, ethics, assisting, correcting, philosophy, yoga sutras, teaching styles and qualities of a good teacher will be taught.

This course will integrate many styles of yoga to develop a well rounded yoga teacher and/or yoga student. "Community Classes lead by Teachers in Training" will give teacher trainer the opportunity to teach a group of student including Yoga and Wellness Instructors and clients. After completing the required 200 hour program a certification from The Yoga and Wellness Teacher Training program will be given and the student may also be eligible to register as a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance.

Experienced and certified practitioners will present classes in their areas of expertise. The program includes one makeup weekend in the schedule, with the opportunity to take up to one year to complete the program.

Our curriculum includes (Total 225.5 hours)

• Fourteen weekends, Saturday and Sunday from 1200 pm – 7 PM (contact hours)
• 10 practices at The yoga and Wellness Studio and private sessions with the director
• Assisting, Observing, or Participating in a variety of classes at the Yoga and Wellness Studio
• 30 hours will include independent reading and writing assignments, journals, student teaching, and written final exam.
• Community Classes lead by Teachers in Training throughout training, beginning in February
• First aid & CPR certification (8 hours)
• Unlimited yoga classes during training at the Studio

Topics included in the training include, but are not limited to:

• Class design and sequencing-learn the principles of sequencing and how to create a theme for your class
• Chakras
• Pranayama
• Yogic Philosophy
• Advanced Anatomy-guest medical presenter
• Healing through Yoga-guest presenter
• Detailed study of all yoga postures including modifications of poses and appropriate use of props
• Correct physical alignment
• Physical and energetic benefits of postures
• Hands on adjustments and enhancements
• Learning to see and understand bodies in terms of proper alignment
• Verbalizing an asana: learn to give clear, simple instructions through choice of appropriate verbal cues and body language
• Demonstrating asana
• Teaching to special groups such as prenatal yoga, seniors…
• Student teacher relationship
• Ethics of a yoga teacher and the business of yoga
• How to Prevent Injury (modifications, assisting)
• Ayruveda and Yoga
• Yoga Stutras
